What is Collagen peptides?
Collagen peptides (hydrolyzed collagen) are collagen protein broken into small pieces, usually from cows, pigs, or fish. They're sold as powders and drinks.

How to take collagen peptides: what we know
- The trials gave hydrolyzed collagen by mouth, usually daily. One meta-analysis concluded that about 90 days of use improved skin measures (PMID 33742704).
- The abstracts we checked don't list one standard amount. Studies used different products and sources (PMID 37432180).
- Follow the product label, and check with a clinician if you're pregnant, have kidney disease, or have allergies to the source (fish, bovine, etc.).
What the research shows

- Meta-analysis, 2021 (Int J Dermatol, PMID 33742704): 19 RCTs with 1,125 people (95% women) found favorable effects on hydration, elasticity, and wrinkles.
